Senior Associate
Andy moved to Christchurch in 2008 and joined the team at Godfreys in 2015. Andy specialises in Employment Law, Common Law and Traffic Law, and regular appears at the District Court and High Court for civil matters. He has appeared in the Coroners Court, Tenancy Tribunal and Motor Vehicle Disputes Tribunal.
Having started his legal career as a clerk in the Wellington Courts, Andy worked his way up to Registrar of the Court of Appeal before running his own business and studying law. Andy gained his Bachelor of Laws from Victoria University and is also admitted as a Solicitor of the Supreme Court of New South Wales, Australia.
Andy has significant know-how experience within Limited License applications, helping those who have lost their drivers licenses regain their ability to drive and protect their livelihood. Debt recovery, liquidation and bankruptcy are also particular areas of Andy’s expertise, alongside assisting clients in IRD negotiations when issues arise. Andy is proficient in negotiating a practical solution for his clients, and advancing matters to Court when required.
When not in office, Andy enjoys salt-water fishing and is a frequent chef in the Ronald McDonald House Charity kitchen.
