Godfreys Law is pleased to welcome two new members to our growing team!
Maddy Currie is joining our team as a solicitor. Originally working as a general practice solicitor, with a large focus on conveyancing, Maddy came to Godfreys seeking a firm that would be more supportive of her career development, and give her a chance to focus more on trusts and estate work, which she always enjoyed. Joining our life law team Maddy particularly enjoys the chance to help people, particularly when it comes to planning for the future.
Maddy and her partner have recently bought a house, and they enjoy doing DIY and taking their border collie Harlo for walks. Maddy also has a cat called Fergus, who is part Maine coon part British blue, who she describes as just being very big and grey.
Maddy has really enjoyed her start to Godfreys, and says she really appreciates how welcoming and nice everyone is. Maddy did bribe us all into liking her on her first day, when she turned up with her homemade lolly cake, from her own secret recipe.
Also joining our team is Kate Montu, our newest law clerk. Kate is joining our conveyancing team and is looking forward to her admission in June when she will become a fully-fledged solicitor. Originally from the North Island, Kate came down to Christchurch to study law and criminal justice at the University of Canterbury, completing her degree in 2021.
Kate joined our team earlier in the year and was immediately thrust into working from home as Omicron began to spread through New Zealand. Despite the added difficulties of getting to know her new co-workers while remoting, she’s really enjoying being part of the team. Kate says she’s really enjoyed how welcoming everyone has been in showing her the ropes and helping her transition from being a student to full-time work. Although when pressed about her favorite thing about Godfreys so far, she does rank the pikelets Brooke brought in for morning tea last week ahead of her co-workers.
In her spare time, Kate is a keen netballer and enjoys getting out, spending time with her friends and family, and keeping active, whether it be going to the gym or going for a walk.
