As lawyers we get asked to help in all sorts of disputes. Some are relatively easy to sort – but others are like sumo wrestling a prickly pear.
There might be a very adversarial lawyer involved, who is more interested in scoring points than finding a solution; and other times it can be an unreasonable person who, for whatever reason, just wants to be obstructive. And there are so many topics people can dispute over – driving too fast on the right of way, views blocked by trees, disputes in the workplace and disputes with builders to name a few.
Godfreys Lawyers get involved in lots of these disputes and we try to bring client focussed, cost effective solutions forwards rather than have a scrap for the sake of it. Of course, there is always a role for our law courts too. For those disputes where people are completely unreasonable or intractable, intervention by a judge is often necessary. Court proceedings are usually expensive, take ages and also destructive of personal relationships, so best left as a last option. That is why our team focus on other, non-court solutions first.
Rather than wrestling with a prickly pear, wouldn’t it be better to be doing a delicate dance (lets call it a negotiation) where no one gets hurt.
For client focussed and practical advice on disputes of all types think about the friendly team of lawyers at Godfreys Law.
