With the Omicron variant of COVID-19 entering the community in New Zealand we have quickly moved to the red traffice light setting as we seek to slow the spread and keep the strain off our healthcare system. For some this will mean only a minor disruption to their lives, while for others, such as the elderly and vulnerable this will mean a major change to their lifestyle. For business owners and event organisers too, this may mean a major shock to normal operations.
It’s at times like these that the resilience and adaptability Cantabrians have developed comes most in handy. Make sure to keep supporting local businesses and reaching out to those who may be isolated.
If you are a business owner, you can find general advice on your obligations under the red traffic light setting from MBIE here. Of course, if your situation is less straight forward and you want specific advice, such as about enforcing vaccine mandates, sick leave allocations for staff required to isolate, or anything else, we recommend reaching out to your usual commercial advisor at Godfreys to discuss.
If you’re looking to buy or sell your house, or are currently in the process of doing so, this can still be done at the new traffic light setting, but there may be changes to how the process works. One of our solicitor's Chris O'Brien has a breakdown here of what you need to know.
At Godfreys Law we will be running a split office, with half our team working remotely each week. We will still be offering our full service; however, we may need to schedule our meeting with you via Zoom rather than face to face. If you are coming into our office, you will be required to present your vaccine pass and wear a mask the entire meeting. If you are unable to comply with any of these requirements for any reason, please let us know when booking your meeting so we can make alternative arrangements.
